Our fallow venison season started on Wednesday. To celebrate the start we’ve been dining the alfresco way. Quick roast haunch of venison with a simple green salad from the garden.
The garden this year has taken a real hammering from the slugs and thriving weed population. In the past we have always adopted a policy not to use Slug Pellets, to enable us to protect the wider biodiversity of the garden and farm. This year the slugs even ate our leeks.
Next year I have decided to take my 92 year old grand father’s advice and use slug pellets.
